Seven Deadly Sins
I have always been drawn to story telling through my portraiture by having my models play a character in a styled scene. So, I created this series of images that followed the theme of modern depictions of the seven deadly sins. I wanted some of the images to portray problems people face in our society while having a bright and cheeky undertone to them. I also decided to challenge myself to create a still life that sits side by side with the portrait that aids in telling the story.
This project challenged me in many ways and taught me a lot about photography and the kind of photographer I want to be. I was forced to learn how to shoot and light on location, how to be resourceful in my quest for props and locations, how to set up and light a dynamic still life, and how to get my models to portray a certain mood.
Intense longing, usually thought of as intense or unbridled sexual desire.
An absence of interest or habitual disinclination to exertion.
A sad or resentful covetousness towards the traits or possessions of someone else.
Uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, and even hatred. Wrath often reveals itself in the wish to seek vengeance.
Believing that one is essentially and necessarily better, superior, or more important than others, failing to acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and excessive admiration of the personal image or self, especially forgetting one's own lack of divinity, and refusing to acknowledge one's own limits, faults, or wrongs as a human being.
The overindulgence and overconsumption of anything to the point of waste.
An artificial, rapacious desire and pursuit of material possessions.
This series has been printed into a 11x14 hardcover book and is available to purchase! Contact me for details.
